What happens once I have registered?
Once you've submitted all of your detail, the following processes will take place:
- You'll receive an acknowledgment email from our Education Team within 5 working days.
-
A request for your CRB clearance will be put through to your local BEP/ STEMnet and they'll book you on a CRB course. This could take some time depending on how many requests they have at that time.
Your Education Team contact will advise you how long this process will take. For more information about CRB visit www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk.
-
You will be invited along to a CRB clearance and National STEM Education Ambassador training session, which usually takes half a day and is delivered on site.
Please ensure that you take at least three pieces of ID along to this session (such as a passport, driving licence and utility bill with your current address and name on it). If you do not have a passport you'll need to supply five pieces of ID, which can include a birth certificate and other official identification documents.
- You attend the training session.
- Your CRB number comes direct to you at your home address and can arrive up to two working weeks after you have completed your CRB training. Please ensure that you enter this number onto your registation document on the education website.
Although you do not technically need to have been CRB cleared to visit a school, we strongly advise against arranging any visits until your CRB clearance has come through. It may be, however, that you're contacted to support a schools roadshow or attend an event before you're fully cleared. In situations where you'll not be left alone with a group of young people, this is perfectly acceptable.
