The schools challenge for the autumn term is under way with another chance to win £200 worth of ICT vouchers for your school.
What we'd like you to do...
There is a lot of interest in building more ecological houses for the future, so we thought we'd give you the chance to design your own. We want you to consider all the technology that is around today and may be think up a few ideas of your own to produce a home that is more environmentally friendly - so let your imaginations run wild. There are a number of websites that you can use for research...
Who can enter?
All schools that are registered on the BAE Systems website and those schools affiliated to a BAE Systems Ambassador are eligible to enter the Schools Challenge.
What can we win?
The prize will consist of £200.00 of ICT vouchers for the school and a prestigious trophy for the winning team. There will also be a framed certificate for the runner up teams from each category (1 x overall winner, and 1 runner up from each age category).
What are the restrictions?
- There are two age categories in the Schools Challenge: 9-11 and 12-14.
- Teams can consist of no more than 5 members.
- Each entry application must be submitted by a member of staff at the school.
How long have we got?
All entries must be submitted by Friday 5th December 2008.
What do we have to do?
BAE Systems are inviting teams of pupils to submit their ideas to design an ecological house of the future.
Your entry can be submitted in any combination of the following ways:
- A scale drawing of their design.
- Photos of models
- Power point presentations
- CAD
All entries must be accompanied by a written explanation of the design on no more than 250 words.
Winning entries will be featured on our website.
Judging Criteria
Each entry will be judged against the following criteria:
- Does the design meet the brief?
- How innovative is the core concept?
- How realistic is the design?
- Quality and clarity of the entry.
- Contribution to the pupil learning.
