Introduction

Welcome to the teacher's area of the BAE Systems Education Programme Work Experience website.

The aim of this area is to provide support for teacher's who might have students who are interested in finding out more about a career in engineering.

The Work Experience website has been developed to provide young people with as much information and support as possible to help them to make an informed choice when considering placements for work experience.

In this section we have included some websites and downloads which we hope will be of some use to you and your students either in looking for careers in engineering or to support your teaching of STEM subjects to inspire your students to consider engineering as a career choice and therefore take an engineering work experience placement.

The student area has been developed to provide an engaging interactive experience following the journey of one young person as they take part in what could be a typical work experience placement at a BAE Systems site. Our aim is to raise awareness of the varied opportunities that would be available to them if they were to consider a career in engineering, and to highlight how fulfilling a career with a company such as BAE Systems could be.

Work Experience placements are only available to students attending schools within the catchment area of a BAE Systems site. If you have students that are interested in a Work Experience placement at a BAE Systems site, please register your school on the Education Programme website in the registration area, log in and fill out the 'request form' that can be found in the Work Experience Application Form area. Applications will only be considered from requests made through the website.

Once your student has been accepted it is requested that you brief your student prior to the placement taking place on what will be expected of them and talk through the Health and Safety aspect and the Key Skills pack.
